The secret of a light clutch action on the TY125 & TY175 is to go for lightweight springs and heavy duty clutch plates, not the other way about. Most aftermarket springs are heavy duty ones, more suited for sub 8 second runs at Santa Pod than for trials use and they make the clutch lever very heavy. Most of the cheap clutch plate sets are lightweight and will not put up with trials use.
We also recommended using semi-synthetic oil in the 2 stroke gearbox as the clutch doesn't like fully synthetic. Personally we prefer Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) as it is perfect and cheap!
